About CBSE
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is a Board of Education for public and private schools, under the Union Government of India. It was established in the year 1929, and enjoys today the distinction of being one of the oldest and largest Board of Secondary Education in India. From 309 schools in 1962, the Board today has 15,799 schools affiliated as on Sep 2014, including 197 schools in 23 countries. There are 1,078 Kendriya Vidyalayas, 2,482 Government/Aided Schools, 11,443 Independent Schools, 585 Jawahar Novodaya Vidyalayas and 14 Central Tibetan Schools.
