School Activities

The School of Creative Learning fosters a vibrant and dynamic environment where learning extends far beyond traditional academics. The school emphasizes holistic development through a wide range of activities, including creative arts, robotics, music, yoga, theatre, mental math, and environmental awareness programs. Regular events like annual functions, science exhibitions, INNOFEST, and celebration of national days serve as platforms for students to express their creativity and confidence. The school also organizes health camps, storytelling sessions, and community engagement activities that cultivate values of empathy and responsibility. Learning is made joyful and experiential, with every classroom, corridor, and courtyard serving as an interactive space for discovery and imagination.

School Infrastructure

The School of Creative Learning is equipped with thoughtfully designed infrastructure that supports its innovative and holistic educational approach. Key facilities include the Main Building, the Ritu Sinha Knowledge Centre for Creative Learning, the Kanka Gajendra Centre for Inclusive Learning & the SAIL Laboratory Block, which serve as hubs for academic and inclusive excellence. The campus houses state-of-the-art laboratories such as the Atal Tinkering Lab, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology Labs, along with dedicated spaces like the Mental Ability Lab, Social Science Lab, Mathematics Lab, and Computer Lab. Functional classrooms are enriched with creative educational artwork on the walls, making learning a visually engaging experience. Additional amenities include a smart classroom, auditorium and a library. There is a Rahul Smriti Hostel currently under construction. Together, these facilities create an environment where every space becomes a learning space, aligning with the school’s philosophy of “Every Place is a Learning Place.”

Atal Tinkering Lab

The Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) at the School of Creative Learning was established in 2018 under the guidance of NITI Aayog as a transformative step in promoting innovation and technological exploration among students. The lab, guided by Shri Vijoy Prakash and led operationally by Shri Arvind Kumar Singh, introduced cutting-edge tools and technologies including Robotics, IoT, 3D Printing, and Drone Technology. Prior to ATL, the school focused on 'Waste to Best' innovations, but ATL expanded the innovation landscape significantly. It hosts annual events like INNOFEST and celebrates "Atal Innovation Community Day," where students present creative projects like robotic farmers, drone models, and community radio stations. ATL at SCL has been repeatedly recognized as “ATL of the Month” and has earned national accolades, including Inspire Awards and incubation support from IBM. Through ATL, students are empowered in ideation, design thinking, and hands-on problem solving, fostering a vibrant culture of grassroots innovation.

Conferences and Lectures

The School of Creative Learning regularly organizes conferences, seminars, and special lectures to foster intellectual growth, community engagement, and exposure to real-world issues. These events bring together students, educators, parents, and thought leaders from diverse fields to discuss topics ranging from education and innovation to health, environment, and social justice. The International Conference on Educational and Social Inclusion was organised by APCL and the Kanka Gajendra Foundation in 2011 in the school campus, in which several leading global academicians and educationists presented their papers. Several thought leaders and social change-makers have addressed the school community, enriching the learning ecosystem with their insights. Special lecture series are held to commemorate occasions like Constitution Day, Environment Day, and Science Day, encouraging students to engage critically with national and global challenges. These academic gatherings reflect the school’s commitment to broadstreaming education—integrating knowledge, values, and community participation into the learning journey.

The School of Creative Learning has had the privilege of hosting a wide range of eminent visitors who have enriched the institution with their insights, encouragement, and inspiration. Distinguished guests have included eminent people from the Government, senior scientists, professors, authors, and social activists. These visits have provided students with unique opportunities to interact with trailblazers in various fields, deepening their understanding of real-world challenges and possibilities. Many visitors have expressed admiration for the school’s innovative pedagogy, child-centric environment, and emphasis on creativity and values-based education. Their presence not only validates the school’s mission but also motivates students and educators to continue their journey of transformative learning.

Silver Jubilee

The Silver Jubilee of the School of Creative Learning marked 25 years of pioneering work in the field of innovative, inclusive, and value-based education. Celebrated as a year-long festival of learning, the Jubilee brought together alumni, students, parents, teachers, and well-wishers to reflect on the school’s journey and reaffirm its vision. The occasion featured a wide array of events, including creative exhibitions, cultural performances, lectures by distinguished guests, and the launch of commemorative publications. The Silver Jubilee was not only a celebration of the past but also a recommitment to the school’s founding ideals - nurturing every child’s creative potential, promoting dignity, and building a joyful learning society.


 

The Origins

School of Creative Learning began its journey in April 1997 in temporary premises along Bailey Road in Shastrinagar, Patna under the leadership of Dr Mridula Prakash, an eminent educationist with the track record of establishing several DAV Public Schools across the state of Bihar in Jehanabad, Aurangabad and Shastrinagar, Patna. The school started with classes up to Std V with the plan to expand into higher classes in the future.

Ritu Sinha Knowledge Centre for Creative Learning

The Ritu Sinha Knowledge Centre for Creative Learning (RSKCCL) is the academic heart of the School of Creative Learning, serving as a hub for innovation, knowledge sharing, and holistic development. Named in memory of Ritu Sinha, the centre reflects her enduring legacy and commitment to education rooted in creativity, compassion, and critical inquiry. RSKCCL houses key facilities such as the school library, smart classrooms, and resource rooms that support both students and teachers in their learning journeys. It is also the venue for teacher training sessions, educational research, and curriculum development activities that align with the school’s child-centric and experiential approach. The centre plays a crucial role in shaping the pedagogical vision of the school, embodying the motto that every place, object, and moment can be a source of meaningful learning.

The Kanka Gajendra Centre for Inclusive Learning (KGCIL) is a cornerstone of the School of Creative Learning’s commitment to equity, empathy, and holistic education. Established in memory of Kanka Verma, this centre is dedicated to ensuring that every child, regardless of their learning needs or socio-economic background, receives the support and opportunities necessary to thrive.

Chandra Institute for Creative Empowerment of Women

The Chandra Institute for Creative Empowerment of Women (CICEW) is a dedicated initiative of the School of Creative Learning, founded in 2007 in loving memory of Chandra Das. Located on Gola Road in Patna, CICEW stands as a vibrant space for empowering women - especially those from rural, underrepresented, and artisan communities - through creativity, dignity, and opportunity. The institute offers training programs in livelihood skills, arts and crafts, digital literacy, and financial literacy, enabling women to gain confidence, economic independence, and a voice in their communities. CICEW also hosts workshops, exhibitions, and storytelling circles that celebrate women's knowledge and lived experiences. CICEW plays a vital role in promoting gender equity and building a more inclusive and empowered society, aligning with the broader vision of Creative Learning.

Giving Back

APCL’s mission is the universalisation of quality education. As the School of Creative Learning continued to establish itself in the community as a leading innovative center for quality education, several friends and family came forward to support underprivileged and meritorious learners at the school. As a giving back initiative, endowments funds have been set up by families to perpetuate the memory of their beloved ones. The interest earned on the amount is used to provide scholarships to underprivileged and meritorious children.

The first Giving Back function was organised in 2012. Since then, every year, APCL organises ‘Giving Back’ - to distribute scholarships to the deserving children.
